Lang ist’s her seit ich den letzten Album-Tip gepostet hab; und jetzt wird’s mal wieder Zeit. Denn in den letzten Tagen flasht mich “Sonic Jihad” immer mehr, auch wenn’s nun schon bald vier Jahre alt ist. Wie man schon am Cover (das ich mir übrigens von der offiziellen Homepage klauen musste, weil Amazon nur das zensierte Cover anzeigt) erkennen kann, geht’s hier nicht um Bling-Bling oder Ghettorap, sondern um politische Statements und Texte mit Inhalt.

Das Thema 9/11 zieht sich wie ein roter Faden durch’s ganze Album, und George Bush kriegt ordentlich sein Fett weg. Schon das Intro lässt erahnen, wo der Hase in der nächsten Stunde langlaufen wird:

“AWOL” erinnert von der Machart an die erste Strophe aus “Bullet” von Rhymefest und Citizen Cope (hatten wir ja schonmal). Die alte Geschichte dass die Army für arme Schweine eine der einzigen Möglichkeiten ist an Geld zu kommen:

Den krönenden Abschluss bildet “What Would You Do”. Ein Track der wach rüttelt und Werte wie Zivilcourage und zivilen Ungehorsam vermittelt. “Ein bisschen Widerstand” würde Hans Söllner dazu sagen:

Alles in Allem ein richtig dickes Album mit richtig dicken Beats, richtig dicken Features (Dead Prez, Public Enemy, Capleton), und richtig dicker Botschaft. Ist die Kohle auf jeden Fall wert. Außerdem lohnt sich ein Klick auf Guerrillafunk.com, die Homepage des Labels, auf der man Snippets und Lyrics zu den Tracks sowie diverse Videos und Infos zum Thema 9/11 findet.

Fettes Merci an dieser Stelle an meinen Digga, der mich damals auf das Album gebracht hat, und an Guerrilla Funk, die verstanden haben, dass mp3-Snippets, die länger sind als 10 Sekunden, den Umsatz nicht mindern, sondern steigern können. Wenn man in die Songs vorher mal richtig reinhören kann, und einem gefällt was man hört, wird man auch die paar Ocken für’s Album springen lassen. Immerhin ist das die beste Art gute Acts zu fördern und den Popkinderkram aus den Charts zu schmeißen.
